Sacha Sosno (1937-2013) was an internationally recognized French sculptor and painter who was part of the Nouveau Realist movement of the 1960s. This movement was dedicated to finding “…new ways of perceiving the real.” It was the Nouveau Realist's goal to not only create new art forms, but in so doing, subvert the status quo. Sosno's artistic approach revolved solely around the concept of obliteration: hide to see better. His works are masked by empty or full space thus inviting the viewer to imagine and question what cannot be seen.
