"How are you, 80s Generation?"  
The question gave rise to a major exhibition held at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts (EAV / Parque Lage), Rio de Janeiro, which opened on July 14, 1984 and closed on August 12, 1984. More than five thousand people attended the opening, symbolically scheduled to coincide with the day that citizens of Paris stormed the Bastille. The curators of the show, Marcus de Lontra Costa, Paulo Roberto Leal and Sandra Magger, affirmed the exhibition’s probing character, which aimed to bring to light the varied production that took place in the 1980s. It was not a matter of launching manifestos, determining univocal models and / or postures, but of gauging the artistic tendencies that manifested themselves at the moment. "It's all there," said Lontra and Leal, "all colors, all shapes, squares, transparencies, matter, painted mass, human mass, sweat, airplanes, jagged forms, radicals and liberals, transvanguard, punks, pancakes, post-moderns, neo-expressionists (...). " An account made in the heat of the moment that became a historical landmark, the exhibition brings together 123 artists of different ages and backgrounds.
