This multiple is out of a set of 10 plates as originally packaged together in clear cellophane. The plates were made for the well-known fashion and advertising photographer Bert Stern’s uber-chic New York boutique, “On First Store.” A short-lived venture, Stern's store commissioned stylish, affordable objects for the home and wardrobe from notable fashion designers and artists.
Pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein (1923 –1997) elevated everyday objects into high art. Here he takes a common everyday item and turns it into a mass-produced paper object complete with his signature style of swirling primary colors and Ben-Day dots.
Additional plates are available for purchase.
