Richard Artschwager (1923-2013) was an American artist whose work defied categorization. Artschwager specialized in making the visual comprehension of space and the everyday objects that occupy it strangely unfamiliar and he excelled in causing pictorial and textual confusion through a series of stylistic hybrids such as those in his "blps" series.
