John Furnival (1933-2020) was a British artist and teacher, who was a leading figure in the creation of visual and concrete poetry from the 1960s onwards. Along with the Benedictine monk and artist Dom Silvester Houédard (AKA dsh) and Edward Wright, Furnival co-founded Openings Press in 1964 as a specialist press for the dissemination of concrete and visual poetries.
