Jerry Uelsmann (1934-2022) was an American photographer renowned for his innovative work with photomontage. For this technique, Uelsmann would create his dream-like surreal imagery in the darkroom through a laborious process involving multiple exposures and many enlargerments. It was Uelsmann's desire to share with the viewer images from his imagination, and to create allegorical surrealist imagery of the unfathomable.
