The Space Poetry 2 patch, commemorates the launch into orbit of Kac's Adsum. Adsum is a cubic glass sculpture (1 x 1 x 1 cm (0.39 x 0.39 x 0.39 in) inside of which letters are laser engraved. The letters are positioned one in front of the other, thus forming a spatial poem inside the solid glass cube that can be read in any direction. 'Adsum' means “I am here” in Latin, as used to indicate that the speaker is present (equivalent to the exclamation "here!" in a roll call). Eduardo Kac's Adsum flew to the International Space Station on an Antares 230+ rocket from Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia, on February 19, 2022. The thin blue line on the patch represents our atmosphere, separating the Earth from the cosmos.
Eduardo Kac is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking and influential contributions to the development of contemporary art and poetry. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Tate Modern (London), Victoria & Albert Museum (London), the Museum of Modern Art of Valencia (Spain), the ZKM Museum (Karlsruhe, Germany) and the Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo (Brazil) among others.
