Wrapped Monument to Leonardo

Christo Wrapped Monument to Leonardo Alternate Projects

Description

From the late 1950s to the mid-1970s, Harry Shunk (1924–2006) and his partner, János Kender (1938–2009) documented artists, artwork and exhibitions that were central to the rapidly shifting artistic developments of the time. The pair were Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s de facto photographers for all site-specific projects from the mid 1960s to the mid 1970s. In the fall of 1970, in Milan, Italy, Christo (1935–2020) and Jeanne-Claude (1935–2009) wrapped the monument to the king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II, and the monument to Leonardo da Vinci.
