The works in this exhibition were not shown in a confined area, but instead presented in multiple locales throughout the entire Dutch nation, a nod to the land art, conceptual art, process art, minimal art, performance, and video movements of the time. In “Sonsbeek Beyond Its Bounds” the whole concept of sculpture was put into question, and equally how works of art function in relation to the environment they are shown in.
The evenly-spaced tics make a hybrid with all other sound (yea, everything else) that happens to be going on. One can listen to everything - Thank you John Cage! - or fade out the tics or fade out the other, the life-sound, the way a radio receiver can drift between two stations when the reception is not perfect.____Richard Artschwag, on the disk recordings

Richard Artschwager (1923-2013) was an American artist whose work defied categorization. Artschwager specialized in making the visual comprehension of space and the everyday objects that occupy it strangely unfamiliar and he excelled in causing pictorial and textual confusion through a series of stylistic hybrids such as those in his "blps" series.
