Dieter Appelt is a contemporary German artist known for his black and white photographs which capture performances and sculptures of his own construction. Having a surreal and somewhat foreboding edge, he has stated that, “A snapshot steals life that it cannot return,” and “A long exposure [creates] a form that never existed.”
